Vladimir reconstruction

Project

Synopsis

The iconic work by Vladimir Kush titled, "Departure of a winged ship". It was a classic in the world of surrealism. It is notable for the butterflies taking the place of the sails on a ship that is departing to a place of unknown origins. This is not the actual work.

This is the follow up project to the one titled, "A Vladimir tribute". This the reconstruction of the actual work. It is broken down into the simplest of elements that are seen present in the original work. Then it is reconceptualised to create the work that is produced below.

The idea was to show that the ship has been sucked into a portal where some of the drawings have been converted into patterns and even graphic like drawings, which was achieved by using markers instead of pencil.

The use of the two different mediums makes the contrast greater, making the entire composition look more dynamic, with tension and weight.
